The Arakan Conflict: A Complex Tapestry of Ethnic Strife and Rebellion

The Arakan Conflict: A Complex Tapestry of Ethnic Strife and Rebellion In the tumultuous landscape of Myanmar's western state of Arakan, a new chapter in the saga of ethnic conflict has unfolded with the emergence of the Arakan Army (AA). Stemming from a history marred by genocidal violence against the Rohingya minority and a struggle for autonomy, the AA's ascent signals a shift in power dynamics and ideological currents within the region. The genesis of the AA can be traced back to the systematic persecution inflicted upon the Rohingya people by the Myanmar military and Rakhine extremists. As waves of violence swept through Arakan, leaving behind a trail of destruction and displacement, a sense of disillusionment and defiance took root among the disenfranchised populace. In the wake of these atrocities, the AA emerged as a formidable force, vowing to defend the rights and autonomy of the Arakanese people. Central to the AA's narrative is the rejection of external interfer...

"Humanitarian Crisis "Humanitarian Crisis Unfolding: Plight of the Rohingya in Arakan State"

In the remote regions of Maungdaw and Buthidaung in Arakan State, a dire situation has been escalating for over two months, leaving the Rohingya population in a state of profound suffering. The absence of essential services and basic necessities has created a humanitarian crisis, with severe consequences for the vulnerable communities caught between the military and AA rebels. Internet and Electricity Blackout: The denial of internet access and electricity has isolated these regions, leaving the inhabitants in a virtual information vacuum. This blackout not only hampers communication but also restricts access to vital information and emergency services. Road Blocks and Movement Restrictions: Road blocks and movement restrictions have further exacerbated the crisis, hindering the mobility of the Rohingya population. This not only impedes their ability to seek assistance but also leaves them trapped in increasingly precarious conditions. Health Care Access: The lack of access to adequate...

The Rohingya Struggle: From Independence Aspirations to Ongoing Persecution

The Rohingya Struggle: From Independence Aspirations to Ongoing Persecution Myanmar marks its 76th Independence Day, a historical milestone that should evoke pride and unity. However, the Rohingya minority's journey since that day has been marred by discrimination, marginalization, and the horrors of a genocidal campaign perpetrated by the military and the government. Decades ago, the Rohingya actively participated in the fight for Myanmar's independence, standing shoulder to shoulder with their compatriots. Sadly, the promises of freedom and equality proclaimed during those times have not translated into a reality for this persecuted ethnic group. Post-independence, the Rohingya have faced systematic discrimination, with the denial of citizenship and basic rights pushing them to the fringes of society. Marginalization has made them vulnerable to exploitation and violence, setting the stage for the atrocities that would unfold. The genocidal crimes committed against the Rohing...

About Us

Image
In the world's largest Rohingya refugee camps along the Myanmar/Bangladesh border, the Rohingya Girl School (RGS) is on a mission to make a difference. Our focus is clear: we want to empower Rohingya girls and women, stand up for human rights, and break down the barriers that have held back female education for far too long. The challenges are real. Conservative beliefs, political instability, and cultural barriers have made it tough for Rohingya girls to access education. But we're not giving up. We offer education and skills development programs. We also host awareness sessions and collaborate with local officials to change mindsets and support female education. Our goal is simple: a brighter future for the Rohingya community, built on justice, human rights, and empowerment.
